SQ55 stands out as an innovation in RFID (radio frequency identification device) design. Unlike traditional RFID devices that are heavy and bulky, SQ55 is compact and elegant. It can quickly scan up to 200 pieces from a long distance and store up to 59,000 pieces of information. Even when the scanner is out of battery, the scanned information is automatically saved. Its small size and light weight make it easy to hold and convenient to use. Additionally, SQ55 can be connected to a mobile device via Bluetooth for efficient transfer of scanned information.
The realization of SQ55 involves the use of injection molding for all parts except the strip heat-sink. The upper housing features an as-mold leather texture, while the lower housing is sprayed with metal lacquer. To ensure effective heat release, the heat-sink release part is made of aluminum alloy and treated with anodized coating.
With dimensions of 82*162*117 mm, SQ55 is designed to be portable without compromising on functionality. Its lightweight and ergonomic design make it a perfect tool for female shop assistants, providing them with a stylish and efficient scanning solution.
The SQ55 project was initiated in Shenzhen in June 2017 and completed in April 2018. It was showcased at the Guangzhou Design Week in November 2018, where it received recognition for its innovative design and practicality.
Overcoming challenges such as heat-sink design and weight balance, the team behind SQ55 conducted extensive testing and made adjustments to ensure optimal performance. The balance point of the main unit was carefully considered to prevent discomfort during prolonged use.
SQ55 is the recipient of the Bronze A' Design Award in the Digital and Electronic Device Design category. This prestigious award recognizes designs that demonstrate creativity, resourcefulness, and a commitment to improving quality of life through the integration of art, science, design, and technology.
